When all the world has gone to sleep
The hunters to the forest creep
From out the wild wood comes the call:
"The hunt is life ... the hunt is all ..."

The IC housing list

Hello Wolves!

The list below contains all the publicly known houses of our kinmembers. Feel free to add more, if you are omitted. Also, the list isn't compulsory, but, rather, it's yet another RP tool.

Elufer lives, IC, in Imladris. The interior of her house isn't available in-game.
Lilu (officially, the Falcon clan consulate in Bree-land) - 3 and 4 Garden Street, Cranbridge, Bree-land
Mahin - 1 Chestnut Street, Cranbridge, Bree-land, as well as a nearby fishing hut, down the hill
Shemkel - rumoured to be located within Tum Fain, Falathlorn Homesteads

As a bonus, our kinhouses:

The "Den" (the main kinship house) - 5 Waterbank Road, Adlandor, Falathlorn Homesteads
Important! The adjected small house is the kinship's bath-house. Feel free to use it, as well as the smoke tent available outside!
"The Anduin Boat Club" (the secondary/resupply base) -  8 Long Street, Cranbridge, Bree-land
"Safe Haven/Forge of Ideas" - Svaroh's workshop and the Hunt's enclave within the Thorin's Hall (2 Highspires Street, Feginstath, Thorin's Hall homesteads)
House of the Willowleaf Family -  2 Chalk Road, Pindon Village, the Shire

Be our guest and visit them!

Shadows Among the Ruins

This is the OOC information for our bi-weekly campaign.

Currently the events we weave our RP around happen (time-wise) after the fall of Mordirith. Nevertheless, Angmar itself remains a force to be reckoned with. Therefore, the Wyld Hunt assists the Council of the North any way it can - especially in the wake of the Grey Company gathering to travel South, in order to join Aragorn.
Yes, it is still a perilous time for the North.

Any new-joining character should be aware that the campaign will continue tomorrow, on Sunday, 31st of January, in Esteldin, North Downs.
Still, that is, by far, not the only location we will RP at, as, depending on who joins us, we have further plots to pursue, in the Shire, Ered Luin and/or Bree-land.

If interested, please contact Shemkel, Mahin or Elufer in-game.
At least one person should be online half an hour prior to the start of the next episode (that is half to eleven AM, EST).

As usual, IC (or story-like) glimpses into the campaign are available on Laurelin Archives.

Roam free, both Wolves and guests.

Prologue: Blinded Angmar

The prologue to our bi-weekly campaign starts this Sunday (3rd of January, 2016).
The setting of the campaign covers (mainly) Eriador and happens during the post-Moridith Angmar; still a big threat to the North, but now leaderless and blind in rage.
Roving orc warbands, minor Cargul trying to force their will onto Angmarin, while they fight between themselves for scraps of power.
During the time of our prologue, Grey Company gathers on their way to the South, enduring, with a heavy heart, leaving their beloved lands behind, with but a skeleton crew of Dunedains to protect them.

We are ones to help them now, to provide intelligence and hunt those leaders that come to power.
We are insanely outnumbered, but not alone.
Men, dwarves, elves and hobbits, all of the Free Folk who do not hide out of fear, are our allies.

Together we prevail.
Together we strike fear into hearts of the wicked.

Shemkel Mornheneb, the Dark Hunter

[The prologue starts at noon, server time, on Sunday.
If unable to get to Esteldin on time, make your way to one of the big hubs, like Bree, Ost Guruth, Rivendell, and send a tell to Shemkel - I will be able to port you.
The prologue will be tailored according to the characters who start with us, but fear not - missing an 'episode' won't make you out of touch. The campaign will continue and events shall be recorded for everyone.]

Garm and Camilla

A dot of warm yellow glow from lantern revealed a hobbit figure carrying it carelessly. The figure entered a large growing tent, and the lantern light dispersed inside, making the whole tent appear like an oversized candle globe with hobbit figurine inside. In a moment after Camilla entered, large canine figure ran up to the tent. Garm dutifully turned his back to the entrance and sat down on his guard with a most satisfied expression a canine can ever have.

The neighborhood was coated with dusk and settling for a good nights' rest. It was the time when gates were shut for the night, dinners were served and stories were shared by the fireplace.
Camilla was taking care of the mushroom colony, inhaling rich turf aroma with fresh abundant mycelium. It smelled so inviting that the hobbit had, on numerous occasions, to resist the urge to cut it all on a frying pan with some golden onions and a dash of salt.
Her fiancĂ© has probably guessed that, as he frequently treated her with wild chanterelles since she moved to the Lodge. Camilla was an earth-loving kind. She worked hard to maintain the grounds and to grow things. She loved growing. Plants, seeds, saplings and flowers - all flourished under her care. Her seed germination skills were one of the best in Shire!
Camilla was checking the humid air and closing the tent for the night. Her mind travelled elsewhere... She missed her Lukko and anticipated his return for a while already. She just wished she knew when...

[text by Elufer]

Yes, both of the guards that take care of the Wyld Lodge have a name now.
The faithful pooch is, as we all know, Garm.
As for the redhead hobbit lass, her name is Camilla and she's Elufer's project. Please, refer to her for any in-depth information about the NPC!
As usual, the Hunt is relatively small, but we provide deep support for the Free Peoples.
A support that takes a lot of logistics.
There's a lot of RP potential in that department as well.

Additional RP prospects

Any character that visits our main base and talks to Lukko, gets to know some splendid news.
Shemkel's vision to set up a secondary kinship base, in Bree-land, has finally been forged into reality.
Thanks to Lilu (and Mahin), a new place to resupply and rest has been set up.
Open to all the allies and Wolves of the Hunt, the new kinship house is located in a secluded area by the waterfall, in Cranbridge homesteads at 8 Long Street (due to technical limitations it's labelled as House of the Anduin Boat Club - all thanks to Elufer's initiative *bows deeply*)

Every member of the Wyld Hunt is welcome to visit the secondary base and use it for RP purposes.
In-character, the base is neither a secret, nor a well-known fact. It's hidden in he plain sight, for all inten and purpose, known simply as a place that's open to hunters and travellers of all kind, as well as a place when farmers can learn new and intriguing things about raising crops, planting new species and increasing the quality of their work.

The house is guarded by a hound named Garm, an animal peaceful and benevolent to those, he deems worthy, but fiercely territorial towards the rest. Yes, there's a lore-related reason behind it.
Also, Erasm of the Hunt is known to reside there frequenly, preferring the location nearer to Bree, passing on the knowledge to the allies, when necessary.

A tip - due to technical reasons there is no free teleport available, the mailbox is inaccessible and the kinship chest is a genuine PITA to be shared (we'll resolve that eventually).
As for the first issue, there's a milestone available outside the homesteads. If you happen to have some TP to spare, getting an additional slot might be a nice choice - it's also relatively close to the South-Eastern gate of Bree.

Enjoy your game!

The application questionnaire

The questions you can find below are our rough guideline to the application process we require for any new players (or, to a lesser extent, for alts of current members).
It is not, by any means, a restricting form, but rather a quick shortlist that helps us assess whether the player is compatible with our mentality, approach and goals, as well as whether the character is canon-friendly.

An important information: we are a heavy RP kinship, but we are beginner-friendly. Do not be afraid to apply, even if you are new to role-playing and/or storytelling.

Character part:

1. Have you taken a look at The Complete Guide to Role Play Immersion and the Lore ? If not, please do -at least- scan through it, in order to help yourself refresh your memory. It's an invaluable asset and should not be dismissed lightly (a person with over 17 years of RP experience claims that for good reasons!)

2. Is your character controversial in any obvious aspect? Are you a half-elf? (an extremely rare case, but not a dealbreaker, unless that's the first sign of being Mary-Suesque) Are you a wizard? (a dealbreaker) are you an elven prostitute (likewise)? There are countless concepts that may be original or mundane, but fit well into the canon, there are also a few that will make your character... well, incompatible with us. Don't worry, though, Shemkel will always gladly help out with alternative ideas.

3. Be prepared, briefly, to provide a rough outline of the character. We (the officers) would like to know some basics, before judging anything.

4. Does your character suit the Wyld Hunt? We have scouts, warriors, scholars, a quartermaster, elves, dwarves, hobbits and men. It's a mixed kinship that shares a few simple, universal values. What ties -your character- to us? If you find this quest difficult to answer, there will be more In-depth descriptions of the kin available in the near future. Moreover, don't be afraid to ask.

Player part:

1. What time-zone are you in? Laurelin is an European server, but the kinship is a mixed European-American one. Our bi-weekly campaign starts at noon server time (12:00 EST).

2. How old are you? We do not discriminate on the basis of age, HOWEVER, the nature of our RP is usually quite grim and can sway towards dark fantasy. We highly recommend 18+ people to join, with a high emphasis on being quite mature-minded (21+ preferred).

3. Are you a civil person? The nature of RP is of escapism. We log in to chill out after a hard day of work, in order to surround ourselves with like-minded people, share stories and take part in storytelling, driving our plots forward. We strongly urge to act according to that, leaving any stress behind, when logging in, immersing oneself in full.

4. Are you a patient person? The Wyld Hunt is a HEAVY RP kinship. We value quality over quantity and that's why we have turned down numerous applications, so far. What is more, don't expect us to force RP onto you. We will provide opportunity, we will schedule events, but don't expect us to do everything for yourself. RP requires co-operation and thrives when everyone takes part, releases their creativity. Help us co-create wonderful stories and we shall exceed expectations.

That's it. 8 questions together, which shall be the baseline for our interview.
If preferred, you may poke me (Shemkel) in-game for an email address where you can send written answers in a form of a letter.

Come, join us in the Wyld Hunt!

A Hunt for a Queen

Dusk was dim and gloomy. Afterall, sunlight had to fight hard to get through the grey clouds of Angmar. The barren land was cold, alien and hostile, full of predators, orcs and other spawn of the Enemy.
Yet, it was far from being silent. Far away, in the fortress, drums carried their ominous call far, spreading orders and will of the Nazgul, filling hearts of Free Peoples with dread.
Only a small group left the Ranger outpost that night. Outnumbered and stretched way too far, the Council of the North could not take care of everything. Fortunately, they weren't alone.
The leading elf moved swiftly and seemingly effortlessly. His dark eyes pierced the smoke and darkness, looking keenly for any dangers. When one was spotted, a quick gesture was enough... and one of his followers would let an arrow. One arrow, one kill. The group moved from cover to cover, like shadows. Behind them followed a a sturdier, broader figure. A hooded, armour-clad man with a heavy shield. The protector.
They were all heading towards a spider nest, but not just any spider nest... home of one spider queens of Angmar, whose spawn made scouting missions around Carn Dum almost impossible.
In and out, from shadow to shadow, they made their way to a huge cave's entrance. There they stopped to reorganise. Hushed voices, whispers, last minute changes and they were ready. Torches, oil-dipped arrowheads, masks on their heads and antidotes at their belts. Everything was ready. So were they.
Corridor after corridor, they eliminated encountered spiders, burned the cocoons and cleansed the filth. Deep in the heart of the cavern, the enraged spider queen descended to see only one person. The armour-clad warrior, waiting for her, armed and ready.
Hatred is a poison and thus the predator became the hunted. When she charged, the man was ready, yet all he had to do was to make her come into the trap. Fiery arrows rained on her from shadows, followed by bottles of oil and more fire. The battle did not take long and soon only a scorched, headless corpse remained...

The Wyld Hunt was already regrouping and on its way to the Ranger's enclave.

(Big thanks to everyone who joined us for Bogbereth's kill! We shall be having a kinship meeting, rather than an event, on Sunday, a way to integrate people and encourage to RP more and more. Keep in touch and Hunt Well! *winks*)
